Hastings man dies in aircraft crash

Image
CASCO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM/AP) --A pilot from Hastings has died after his two-seater crashed in Allegan County early Monday afternoon. Craig Ewing, 45, of Hastings had flown light sport planes for about five years. He ran a business that sold the lightweight aircraft and provided flight instruction. Ewing also traveled around the country selling planes and training pilots. Ewing's father says his son was flying from Chicago to his hanger at the Hastings Airport when the plane crashed in Casco Township on Monday afternoon. Michigan State Police found Ewing and his plane in a cornfield. A resident called police after seeing the sports craft's wing break off in mid-air. "I heard it rev a couple times and it was kind of interesting to hear it rev because normally it's just consistent. And then I heard a big bang and then I see a wing come out of the clouds and it flitted down just like a maple [tree] seed and it landed right over here just in the fiel

Weird Aircraft Concept Designs

Image
Perhaps our great grandchildren will complain about being stuffed like sardines in the  Green Airways  Economy Class sometime in the future. But for now, this is a concept design of  CleanEra , engineer Etnel Straatsma's idea of the future of eco-friendly, made-from-light-material aircraft at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. CleanEra also happens to be an abbreviation for Cost-effective Low Emissions and Noise Efficient Regional Aircraft. If the Green Airways is for us ordinaries, the  Strato Cruiser  will be for the celebrities of the future. Designed by Tino Schaedler and Michael Brown, this "new doughnut concept" zeppelin is an airship filled with helium, featuring everything expected of opulence: gourmet restaurant, swimming pool, spa, library, private suites, and even a bungee jumping platform - for the ultimate 'throw 'em outta the plane' jibe at an annoying passenger, I'm sure. A super fast plane concept by Reaction Eng

FUTURE CONCEPTS

Image
Thanks to improvements in technology since the 1970s, aircraft fuel burn and emissions have been reduced by 70 per cent, with a reduction in noise of 75 per cent. In the future, as more people travel by air, the air transport sector will need to achieve further significant step changes while keeping air travel comfortable and affordable – and also achieving the aviation industry’s goal of halving carbon emissions by 2050. Future-gazing by Airbus shows blueprints for radical aircraft interiors. Airbus engineers talk of morphing seats made from ecological, self-cleaning materials which change shape for a snug fit; walls that become see-through at the touch of a button, affording 360-degree views of the world below; and holographic projections of virtual decors, allowing travelers to transform their private cabin into an office, bedroom or even a “zen garden.” THE AIRBUS CONCEPT PLANE More than a flight of pure fantasy, the Airbus Concept Plane illustrates what air tr

Fishermen haul in wreckage of PLANE with body inside as they trawl for fish

Image
Missing: The plane may belong to Daroish Kraidy A crew aboard a New Zealand fishing boat hauled in the wreckage of a small plane with a body inside as it trawled for fish. It is believed to be that of missing pilot Daroish Kraidy, who vanished in March in his home-made kit aerobatic bi-plane. The crew of the San Kawhai was trawling for fish when they brought up  the wreckage  was snared in it’s nets, said fishing company Sanford. The wreckage was later hoisted aboard a police boat which headed back to Auckland. Police said the plane was severely damaged and that a detailed  inspection  of it will be carried out tomorrow including a victim identification expert. Trawl nets are dragged in a wide arc along the ocean floor to ensnare fish. Buoyancy can make it easier to lift heavy objects in the water than on land. Missing: Mr Kraidy had previously flown in the World Precision Flying Championships The fishing vessel is one of Sanford’s smaller boats and typicall
